Kelly Garnett Joseph-Brooks was born and raised in New Orleans, Louisiana. Yes indeed. She credits her passion for writing and expressive nature to living and thriving in a rich and diverse city of New Orleans. As a teenager, she journaled and wrote poetry that captured her imagination and gave her voice to explore and soar throughout her travels around the world. As an educator, Kelly inspired her students through writing to become life-long learners and blaze their own trail.
After transitioning from teaching, Kelly was led back to her first love, writing. During COVID-19, the world-wide pandemic, Kelly began to journal to help her make sense of such uncertain times. Through her journaling, she began to write poetry again and then began to dream aloud about her new chapter in her life.
Out of pain and confusion, she wrote her book of poems, that she hopes will inspire others to find healthy and positive ways to deal with trauma and uncertain times.
